1. Application For Permit: Any person, firm or corporation desiring to construct a building in the city shall apply for a permit therefore to the building inspector.
2. Plat Required: All applications for building permits shall be accompanied by a plat showing the size and location of the existing buildings and buildings to be erected in relation to lot lines. The plat shall also show the zone in which the lot or parcel of land is located.
3. Records Maintained: A record of all building permits shall be kept on file in the office of the building inspector for at least five (5) years.
4. Building Permits Before Construction: The erection or moving of any building or structure, or any part thereof, involving the expenditure of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) or more in replaceable value, shall not be commenced or proceeded with, except after the issuance of a written permit for the same by the building inspector. "Replaceable value" shall mean the cost of labor and materials necessary to duplicate the building or structure using normal building and labor costs in the city.
5. Permit To Comply: From the effective date hereof, the building inspector shall not grant a permit for the erection or alteration of a building or structure which does not comply with the provisions of this title.
6. Utility Connections Require Permit: No building shall be connected to the city water and sewer system until a building permit therefore has been obtained. (Ord. 93-3, 9-1-1993)
