TYPES OF SIGNAGE:

1. Casual Sales (Yard Sales): Signs for sales of miscellaneous items of personal property are allowed with the following stipulations:
1. Such signs shall be limited to four (4) square feet in area, or less.
2. Such signs shall be removed within five (5) days after date of the advertised sale, by the person erecting said sign.
3. There is no permit required for casual sales.
4. Removal of casual sales signs is the sole responsibility of the person posting them.
2. Temporary Signs: All signs not constructed on permanent foundations and permitted, as herein set out shall be classified as temporary signs.
1. No temporary sign shall be erected on any private parcel of real property without the express permission of the owner of such parcel of real property.
2. Removal of temporary signs is the sole responsibility of the person posting them.
3. Banners And Festoons: Banners and festoons are prohibited with the exception that one banner, not to exceed sixty (60) square feet in dimension, may be displayed on any business, commercial or industrial building in conjunction with an allowable use.
1. Such banner signs must be affixed to the building. No banner signs are permitted to be displayed in any other manner.
2. Street banners advertising an event or entertainment to which the public is invited may be displayed for fourteen (14) days prior to, during, and seven (7) days after the event, if they are specifically approved by the mayor and three (3) council members and then only in locations designated by the mayor and three (3) council members.
3. Removal of banners and festoons is the sole responsibility of the person, group, or firm displaying them.
4. Portable Signs: Temporary portable signs may be used by churches, parks, libraries, schools, and other public institutions for promotion of special events. Such use shall be limited to ten (10) days prior to the special event, and must be removed within five (5) days after the event.
1. No person shall place or park any vehicle, trailer or portable message sign on public or private property advertising the services or products at that or any other location or directing traffic to the same.
2. This restriction is not intended to prohibit the use of signs painted on passenger vehicles, buses, or trucks, which are used, in normal delivery or transportation.
3. Removal of portable signs is the sole responsibility of the person or group posting them.
5. Real Estate Signs: Signs advertising the sale or rental of real estate, where developed or undeveloped, must meet the following requirements:
1. If a sign is erected in a commercial, business or industrial district, it shall be limited to thirty two (32) square feet in area.
2. The installation of such signs shall conform to other provisions of the municipal zoning ordinance of Duchesne City as to sign location, height and setback from property lines.
3. All such signs shall be maintained by the person advertised as agent, realtor, seller or owner.
4. The planning and zoning chairman may order the removal of any sign that is not adequately maintained. Said order of removal shall be in writing and served by certified mail, on the person advertised as agent, realtor, seller or owner, and if said notice is not complied with within ten (10) days of the mailing of said notice, the planning and zoning chairman may have the sign removed at owner's expense.
5. If such signs are erected or installed advertising the sale or rental of individual lots or residential units, said signs shall be limited to the size of sixty inches (60") horizontal and sixty inches (60") in height. Signs of this portable nature shall be maintained by the person or firm erecting the sign.
6. No permits are required for real estate signs.
7. Removal of real estate signs is the sole responsibility of the person or firm erecting the sign.
6. Political Campaign Signs: Political campaign signs shall be limited to six (6) square feet in residential districts, and twelve (12) square feet in all other districts.
1. Permits are not required for political signs.
2. Political campaign signs shall be removed within five (5) days after the election for which they were posted.
3. Removal of political campaign signs is the sole responsibility of the candidate or political party posting them.
7. Construction Signs: One sign shall be permitted for all building contractors, another for all professional firms, and another for all lending institutions involved in the construction, enlargement, reconstruction, or repair of any structure.
1. Each sign shall not exceed twenty four (24) square feet in area, and not more than a total of three (3) such signs shall be permitted on any one site.
2. All such signs shall be removed within fourteen (14) days after initial occupancy of the structure.
3. Removal of construction signs is the sole responsibility of the entity erecting the sign.
8. Community Bulletin Boards: A community bulletin board may be maintained on property other than the sponsor's provided that the bulletin board is of an informative nature with messages changed periodically.
1. It may be freestanding or attached to a building.
2. The bulletin board or sign may have one face or two (2) faces, but not more than twenty four (24) square feet of area for each face. (Ord. 05-3, 6-14-2005)
