Planning & Zoning Committee
The Planning & Zoning Committee (often referred to as the Planning Commission) plays a key role in guiding the growth and development of Duchesne City. The committee reviews land use proposals, zoning changes, and development applications to ensure they align with city ordinances and the long-term vision of the community.
Purpose & Responsibilities
The committee is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the City Council on matters related to land use, development, and zoning regulations.
- Review zoning changes and map amendments
- Evaluate subdivision and development proposals
- Conduct public hearings on land use matters
- Recommend updates to city zoning ordinances
- Support long-term planning and community development goals
Zoning & Land Use
Zoning regulations help ensure that land within Duchesne City is used in a way that promotes safety, order, and community character. These regulations guide where residential, commercial, and industrial uses are appropriate and help manage future growth.
The Planning & Zoning Committee helps interpret and apply these regulations during the development review process.
Public Hearings
Many zoning and development decisions require public hearings. These hearings provide an opportunity for residents to learn about proposed projects, ask questions, and share feedback before recommendations are made to the City Council.
Public notice of hearings is provided in accordance with Utah law.
Submitting Applications
Developers and property owners seeking zoning changes, subdivisions, or other land use approvals should contact Duchesne City early in the process. Staff can provide guidance on application requirements, timelines, and applicable regulations.
Applications are reviewed by the Planning & Zoning Committee before being forwarded to the City Council when required.
Meetings
The Planning & Zoning Committee meets as needed to review applications and conduct public hearings. Meeting dates, agendas, and minutes are made available to the public.
Please visit the Agendas & Minutes page for current meeting information.
